I have been strugling to install DNN on my hosted web server. Initially the problem was with the permission to write to root folder, and I have my provider to enable the write permission to it, so the installation work instead of giving me multiple errors such as unable to find log file or assemblyname error.

Now, I am having trouble installing the modules and stuck with this "Error configuring Child PortalRequest for the permission of type..."

can anyone help me with this? Even I removed the modules from the install folder, I still keep getting the last error and that is very annoying because I already give the write permission to the folder. Is this error anything to do with the machine.config file?

I'm having the same issue.  Tried using both the development.config and web.config (thought it might be because host is using medium trust, but same result both times).

I did a search for this error in Google, and this thread was the only hit.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

yeah..  probably networkservice (win 2003) doesnt have full permissions on all folders...

now to figure out how to install again without deleting everything..   because if you go to the install..   blank page..  nice.

well...the first time install failed, i figure it must be the permission problem. so i had requested my provide to assign write access to the virtual folder for networkservice.

i delete the old files, replace with the new ones, got myself a fresh new MSSQL 2005, and run the installation again.

end up with the same error!....i have no idea what might be wrong this time, unless my provider is pulling my legs by not assigning the proper user with proper permission.

why is it so hard to install DNN. i work with ASP.NET and this is taking too much of my time trying to get it install on a host site.

Did anyone figure this out? I have Network Service user set to Full permissions on all folders. I am getting this trying to create a new Child Portal on an existing DNN install. I have migrated this install over to a new server and I think I have permissions set correctly, but I get this when creating a new child portal. DNN 3.3.5
