I'm not exactly sure what it is you're asking but DotNetNuke is set up on an ASP.NET 2.0 or 1.1 system depending on your DNN version. The MSSQL connection is made via a connection string in the web.config file. You can basically connect to any database with any login and on any server as long as you can point to it with your connection string. Here is an example:

<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=ns.webhost.com;Database=DotNetNuke;uid=mylogonname;pwd=mypassword;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/>

If this is not exactly what you are asking - please rephrase and post again.

DotNetNuke uses a special version of MS membership provider - try to install DNN and copy your membership data into same tables inside DNN database. you will need additional tasks though to access your existing user records from inside DotNetNuke.

Thank you guys for your reply,

let me try and explain my "problem" better

i have a site created with asp.net V2.0 i'm using the dotnet SqlMembershipProvider with SQL database.

i now want to ADD a DNN forum to my site, i wanted to know if it's possible to implement it to the current site and to set it up to use the same membership provider i already have in place, with all the users data.

thanks,

SBH

I have a question for anyone.  The Membership Profile is great, but how do other users find and view a persons profile.   When you login users don’t know that you are online unless you have online users module on a page.

We hired a company to write our business and he ask me how will consumers read  attorneys profiles and I mind went blank.

Thanks
