Hi all,

I created a custom module as per the steps given by Daniel Egan ( VB and DotNetNuke  3.0 - Chapter 7 ) ... But i tried to implement it .. but i'm not able to see the module that i created on the page.

Even he has suggested one solution for this problem but i'm not sure abt that ...

Can anyone knows why it is happening like that .. How do i implement my module to a page ..

   Thanks.

Regards,

Ashok.S

I've created a number of modules using that reference as a guideline. It's hard to say what's happening to your module without more information. Obviously you've built it running a source dnn install in visual studio. Were you able to install the module to DotNetNuke OK so that it shows up in your module dropdown list? If that's the case then probably the only way to solve the problem is by running it under visual studio in debug mode and walking through the code to see what's going on. I've had to do that quite a few times to get mine working correctly.

Sorry can't be much more help.

Thanks for ur reply ..

I did a trial and error method .. i.e., I used the existing Module(Announcement, contacts) and i Changed their Browse path (Add Controls path ) ... so that both these modules were referring to my custom module.

Now i tried to add the Module ( Announcement and contacts) .. Its rendering my module .. I'm getting those controls that i added in my custom module.

See what may be the wrong ???

I have created a custom module and tried to implement it .. But I'm getting the module only if i use the existing module ...

Can u please tell me what may be wrong ??? and wht shld i do ???

I guess u may able to understand the thing that is happening ...

Anyhelp and suggesstion will definetly help me for further proceeding ...

Regards,

Ashok.S

I'm not really sure what you are doing. Are you modifying the announcements and contacts modules to suit your installation or are you starting with them as a base to build your module?

First of all, I would never recommend modifying the DNN modules. Daniel Eagan's module building procedures were fairly easy to follow and resulted in my building solid modules. I'm not sure how you are crossing over to core modules but that could never lead to a good thing.

If I misunderstood your intentions - sorry. Use the step-by-step procedures instead of trial and error and do not modify DNN core modules.
