  At a loss here.  I have sucessfully written several apps in Net 2.0 and never had a problem like this.  Maybe someone can assist here as I am beginning to wonder whether this application will ever work.  Current Version I am using is 4.3.5 and trying to connect to SQL 2000 server.  I have installed the source code version and no matter what I try I still get the error below.  I have even cut the commented areas out.  Please HELP>.

<connectionStrings>

<!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 -->

<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=(local);Database=ProcessDNN;uid=Process;pwd=butterscotch;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

</connectionStrings>

<appSettings>

<!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules -->

<add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=(local);Database=ProcessDNN;uid=Process;pwd=butterscotch;"/>

the connection strings look ok to me, are you sure that you're connecting to the correctly named sql server, with the correct credentials. On occasion I've had an issue with sql server connectivity when I've not had the right version of the service pack on the machine i.e. if you're running sql 2000 but have not installed service pack 3 or above then you have to specify the port number in the string e.g. "Server=(local),1433;Database......etc."

Just basic things to check:

The MS SQL Server 2000 is a default instance on the same computer so thet (local) is appropriate?

The database ProcessDNN is created?

The user has login privileges?

The user has dbo privs on the database in question?

No offense intended by the basic nature of these questions. Your strings look ok to me ...

I have tried everything suggested and including making sure SQL Server is up to Service Pack 4.  Anyone have any other ideas of something I may of missed?  I have check privelages and everything else.

Thanks so much
