I am also receiving this error under an intranet setup.  I did all the instructions religiously but still failed to install.  Now I'm lost. I promised dnn to be our intranet CMS, now I cant deliver.

as this is not a dnn problem, you wont be able to run any asp.net application on your webserver. My experience with intranet servers is that overactive system administrators lock down the machine too good, changing permissions all over the place and if everything still works "hey everything still works!". Just google a bit around for this error, and you will find 100's of sites where solutions are posted.. have you tried them all?

Think I found a solution guys.  I youre running 4.x You have to set-up the \ASPNET user as part of the "operators" in the IIS setup. The Metabase IIS error disappears but now I'm on to the next error.

"Cant connect to the database in Connectionstring  in ........"  Can the default DotNetNukeUser  user account be used in a Windows authenticated SQL server?  Can someone type here  a solid example of  a connection string in the web.config file ?  Mine is " .... Server=FPMANIX01\DBMANI01; Database=DotNetNuke; uid=RPUAD\abayunan; pw=xxxxx; " What am I doing wrong?

Do I still need to include the SQL instance name in the string?  Why do we still need to enter the user name and password when it(user) is already logged-on in the windows account? I am talking about the initial installation phase only, just to let the DNN installation execute and install up to the "click here to access your portal" page.

  Please help.
