I received and error while upgrading from 3.2.2 to 3.3.6. The upgrade process indicated that the error was logged in the file 3.02.03.log. Checking that log file, it seems that the error is related to the RoleGroupID in the Role table. Looking at the file 3.02.03.SqlDataProvider file, it looks like the script checks for the RoleGroups table. If it's not there, it adds the RoleGroups table, then adds some restraints and adds the RoleGroupID to the Roles table.

Here is my problem: I restored version 3.02.02, and the RolesGroup table already exists, but the RoleGroupID field doesn't exist in the Roles table. Since the RolesGroup table exists, none of that code that adds the constraints and adds the RoleGroupID field to the Roles table gets executed.

Any ideas on how this happened? Did the RolesGroup table get added in a previous version?

Chris

Ooops, never mind. I figured out what the problem was, but this brought up an interesting problem.

I believe that at some point I tried to upgrade my local installation of DNN. I regularly use DTS to transfer the data on my hosted site to my local system to try things out before I upgrade the remote system. I think what happened is that I tried to do an upgrade on my local system, which created the RoleGroups table. Unfortunately, I think that DTS only copies over the existing data and creates new data. It doesn't delete tables which exist on the local but not on the remote.

Does anyone know if there is a way using DTS to avoid this?

Chris
