Hi there,

I'm very new to DNN but am learning quite quickly! It's an amazing application! :)

We recently installed DNN on one of our servers (mmcpt01) and have decided to move the DNN portal to another server (kpcpt01). Is there a way in which we can move the entire portal to the new server (kpcpt01) quickly and easily?

We have already tested the move but we experienced some problems. What we did was install DNN on the new server, backup the old DNN database (DotNetNuke) and then restore the old dbase to the new one we created. We changed aliases in the database to map to the new server (kpcpt01) and the portal worked properly.

The migration was successful, but afterwards we couldn't login to any of the portals.

Is there a place we can edit the passwords for the portal either in the database or one of the ASP files?

Can you please advise regarding this migration. It would be much appreciated.

Thanking you,

Chris Bowers

>>we couldn't login to any of the portals.
I guess is a problem with this web.config setting (you must keep your source site values):

    <machineKey validationKey="2F795C133C3307535AF37EA1602FC7B12FE7F942" decryptionKey="B08B32383450393B33D34138D3CF328376601307D26A145F" decryption="3DES" validation="SHA1" />

and just in case, this too:
    <add key="InstallationDate" value="12/15/2006" />
