Hi,

I have a partially corrupted db that has kept me from upgrading to 4.4.0.  I've worked out a fairly involved process to get to 4.4.0.  It involves some SQL scripts to clear out bad records.  I have to do upgrades incrementally.

My upgrade go like this
3.2.2 > 3.3.0 upgrade
3.3.0 > 3.3.5 upgrade
3.3.5 > 4.0.0 install
4.0.0 > 4.4.0 install

My question concerns the 3.3.5 > 4.0.0 upgrade.  Is this a valid upgrade path?

I ran into difficulties going from 3.3.5 to 4.0.0, so I'd like to keep this order if possible.

Can I go from 3.3.5 to 4.0.0?

Thanks,
Wylie

Wylie,

only upgrades are supported - and DNN3.3.x correspond with the same DNN4.3.x version, you can easily upgrade from 3.3.5 to 4.4.0 directly using the common upgrade procedure with the following additional steps:

  • remove all .vb files prior to unzipping DNN 4.4.0
  • before hitting the site for the first time, alter the ASP.Net Version to be used to 2.0 in IIS web site configuration and make sure, the site does not share the app pool with an ASP.Net 1.1 application.

Thank you again Leupold for your ongoing assistance.  I hope you're getting compensated for your frequent and invaluable forum support.

I think I follow you, but there might be a typo if your comments - "you can easily upgrade from 3.3.5 to 4.0.0".  Did you mean to say "you can easily upgrade from 3.3.5 to 4.4.0"?

So I should not upgrade from 3.3.5 to 4.0.0?

THanks,
Wylie

Wylie,

oops, you are right - I was in a hurry before an appointment, before posting, so please apologize, I just corrected my post. Of course it was my intention to tell you, that a change from 3.3.x to 4.0.y is a downgrade and needs to be avoided.
