My new install latest version works fine on localhost.  Even though I disabled the firewall to my xp pc where it runs from I cannot access this site from other pc's on the same workgroup.  I have created a test static virtual folder and access this no problem from other pc's - any suggestions

In the site admin - on the main admin page -  have you added the portal alias (right at the bottom of the page) using your machine name?

If it is expecting http://localhost/dnnwhatever it wont work for http://martindelanges_pc/dnnwhatever if you see what I mean

I added the portal alias but still IE displays the 'cannot display page'  The address I enter on IE is \\desk\dotnetnuke_2\default.aspx     If I leave the default.aspx the it will display all the files in that folder.  Any more ideas

You should enter http://desk/dotnetnuke_2

What happens if you browse to http://desk ? You should see some sort of message from IIS at least.

In any case follow the steps here to make sure it is properly configured: http://www.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNukeHELP/DNN4_DevelopmentEnvironment/DNN4DevelopmentEnvironment1.htm

Make sure you have selected asp.net version 2 and set the permissions correctly.

Thanks for the help it works now that I added the portal alias and web address.  The http://desk/dotnetnuke_2 worked.  Any idea why the URL did not work?

Also would you have any idea what exclusion I could add to the firewall to let it through?  Just a port 80 would be too risky?
