Hi I had a site set up (vanilla install) last week, and a designer has been adding things to it.

Ive just had a phone call saying that the site has crashed. Im getting the standard /Net debug message saying set the webconfig errors to "Off" (Although they are currently set to remote debug...)

The actual error in the url is ?tabid=36&def=ErrorMessage

Any ideas what can be causing this, (or has caused this?), or suggestions for troubleshooting it?

Cheers

Sb

<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" /> in web.config means that you can only see actual error message when logged on to the server, and viewing the page locally. If you want to view the error from anywhere else, you should set this to <customErrors mode="Off" />. Remember to set it back to default if you bring your site live, it can be considered a security risk to have other people see the actual error messages of your site.

Aye, I turned it off, and then got told to turn something else to false in the config, but then I got told that the designer had been playing (see the other thread you answered me in.) Apologies for the dual post, but in the stress of getting the system resolved I forgot to come back and put something in this thread that the issue was being moved :$

all fixed now, (until I get more questions anyway)

Cheers
