Hi Rodney,

If it is removed from web.config and still not working then it may help to make sure your browser cache is also cleared.

You can just do it for the page in question by using CTRL+F5 or CTRL+Refresh in IE.

In FF it is SHIFT+Refresh

BTW, these same key combinations will clear the server side cache in PageBlaster.

Ok., all working now, with compression (Gzip).

Actually John, could you please give me your thoughts on the Whitespace filter? The comment says "makes HTML less legible" - so I can't think of any scenario where you would use it considering portals are read by humans!

Using that website tool you posted elsewhere I can see my compression went from 68% to 79% with the whitespace filter on (38k down to 22k!) - and it seems readable - but how do I know spaces between words have not been removed, or have I misunderstood it's purpose?

You must have had a lot of whitespace! Usually compression will remove whitespace pretty well on it's own.

What it does is remove the spaces between html tags, so if you had:

<div>

<img src="spacer.gif">

</div>

Removing whitespace will make it:

<div><img src="spacer.gif"></div>

So it is only "cleaning" up un-needed space in the source html.
