Not sure where to post this.  Our website developer/portal administrator went out of business and left me with the website.  I am currently an administrator and need to have permissions to remove some other 'administrators' who are no longer employed here, but I get error messages indicating portal administrators cannot be deleted.  Unfortunately the departed admins have their old email addresses tied to the registration form to be notified when we have new users.   I'm limping along and learning but the help on this website isn't exactly easy to use for a novice.  (I'm waiting for the Dotnetnuke for Dummies!) How do I remove administrators from the user list and other places their names show up and change the email for our registration form?  Thanks for any help!!!

Have you tried removing them from the Admin role before you delete them?

Yes, I had tried that.  But no need now!!   I stumbled upon the answer myself.  I hadn't drilled down far enough on the Site Settings page until yesterday.  I went to Advanced settings, Other settings and voila! there was the drop down list of administrators and the former employee was the one selected as site administrator.  I simple chose my name from the list, updated and was then able to accomplish several of the tasks I was unable to do before!!  whoo hoo. There's no stoppin' me now.     Thanks for your suggestion.   Now, if the file manager permission settings work as I hope, the page editors will be able to upload documents for themselves on their own pages and I'm on to the next task.  Glad this forum is available, lots of good info.

Note that there's another level above Admin called Host. It sounds to me like the host account has gone awol along with the chap. It's a little risky to continue running and maintaining your site without knowing that someone has host access.

If the guy who left is likely to have had the host account then you should chase after him.

Why not just reset the host password instead of chasing a guy who is out of business?  Find a thread on resetting a lost host password.  I totally agree with the point of locking down the host account.  You dont want to leave that HUGE backdoor open.  I would just do it a different way
