Is there anything that i can do to improve the laod time. I have dnn on our dedicated webserver along with an old static wysiwug site and the load times are huge...I have the compact install with a basic skin....no flash. I know it will never load as fast as a that other site since it db driven but hopefully theres some things i can do to help.

Any suggestions?

  • do you have enough RAM i tne server?
  • did you delete all unused modules?
  • do you use DNN 4.4.1, that is much faster than pre 4.4.0 versions?

Some other things I have noticed that will help with performance are....

-Ensure the CSS files used with your skins are as small as possible (reduces overhead)

-Ensure that caching is enbled on modules that you can support it

-Remember that if the site is inactive and the ASP.NET worker process unloads that the first request will take significantly longer than others.   (You can get around this by using a keepalive service or other options)

The server is pretty beefy and thats something we can look into....its a gig and has dual cpu's

the modules are slim....like i said...its a compact install so I dont believe theres any modules i can remove.

I'm not on 4.4 yet...I started with 4.3.6 cause that what im running on my dev site....ill have to test this. Is it really an improvement?
