I have been trying to create a module from the Manage Services control so that I can use the site on-register redirect so users dont have to run around looking for the way to properly subscribe to the role they require.
(anyone know of a good work flow for this?)
right now my work flow goes like this
user registers - they get varification # - do their first log in - login redirect is set to a page that requires a subscription so the page errors, I have re-written that error to point you to a tab that has your user Account info and tells you to click on Manage Services - user recalls the instructions and finally get to a page where they can subscribe.
It seems really long and drawn out.  would really like to know if anyone here has simplar problems and what approaches they have taken to fix it?

Thanks in advance

This post is a little old but I thought I'd add my voice too. I am looking for pretty much the exact same thing. Just a way for a registered user to easily subscribe to public roles (for newsletters). The current process for subscribing is far from obvious to our users. Any advance on this would be great. Any ideas? Thanks, Mike

Looking for the exact same thing too. (desperatley)

It would be great if there was a way to streamline subscriptions to public roles.

There's no good way to do it in the core, but there are several optional modules that can help, at least with free roles. It's a great big gap in the use of DNN.

Search on Snowcovered for SeamlessModules, and also AllDNNSkins' LoginCombo, then there are also a couple of customizable registration form modules that can handle role assignments.. search for Datasprings and Ucanuse. Another option I've used is Gumbosoft's paypal cart to allow purchasing of roles, but this doesn't mix easily with free roles, which will have to be assigned on another page.

Or if payment processing is involved then consider adding to the end of this thread here, where I made  along post about it:

Or, for a newer module that has started with free roles and may gain payment processing, also consider posting to this thread at WorkControl:

Agreed, it is "a great big gap in the use of DNN"

Thanks for the reply and info about modules that might help.

If there was a way to simply link directly to “Manage Services” it would be a step in the right direction.
