I am trying to setup my host smtp account on Google Apps but I get the following error:

Error: Host Settings is currently unavailable.

For SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com:465

Authentication: Basic

Enable SSL is checked

The username is the email address I'm trying to use (which does work outside of DNN) and my password.

Any help will be much appreciated,

Thanks,

Michael

Your host may be blocking that port.

Try port 587.

I've tried both ports and still no go.

I've also tried two different installations of DNN but they are on the same host.  The email accounts work setup through Outlook and through Google Apps.

I do not get this error when I do not use the port assignment, of course it will not connect to the smtp server.

I tried this with my gmail and it works on 567.

It must be something with the setup of your server at the ISP/Host.  The exception is happening when that port is accessed, so they may not allow it.

You'll want to let them know that error you are getting.
