I have several flash files I embed into the Text/HTML module using the FCK editor.  In IE 7 when I hover over the flash I get a message that says something along the lines of "click to activate and use this control".  A simple google search has lead me to this resource.  I have been unsuccessful so far implementing the javascript provided.  An associate of mine has told me the script link must be in the within the <head> tag, but as my *.ascx skin has no such tag, I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue, and how it was resolved.  Thanks.

Are you recieving any script errors when you try to run the page?  Are you sure that your link to the file is being set correctly?

if you want to add something to the page header, you can do that from page settings > header tags (under advanced setttings somewhere)

also, pasting javascript in html modules is prone to errors, because the html editor might actually delete the script during editing. If you want to link to scripts for your module, it would be better to put the script links in the header of the module (through module settings)

If you want to add flash to your page, you might consider using the media module

Hi ptleitch

I believe this is caused by a company called Eolas -they own a patent (that should never have been allowed) that MS have been required to build into IE7.  More here. http://www.jeroenwijering.com/?item=Embedding_Flash

You could also ask Jaydeep at BhattiModules how he worked round this in his excellent FLV video module.

Thanks for all of the comments.  So, I guess my real question is... Has anyone successfully configured DNN to bypass this flash "feature" of IE7?  In response to a previous comment in this thread.... Can I put javascript code in the header section of the advanced page settings, or only <script> tags to link it to a *.js file?
