Greetings,

I'm having an issue with DNN coming up with anonymous and non-admin users not able to access the application.

I'm using DNN 4.4.0 with SQLServer and the site has been running fine for several months.

Symptom: I'm only able to successfully enter the system via an admin page.  Once in the site I can go to any page and view and preview them.  Once I try to logout (or go directly to the site as an anonymous user prior to logging in) the site is unaccessible (it hangs).  The Log shows that it is throwing General Exception errors.

What might I have done:

I'm unsure if any of this stuff is an issue, but today I did the following:

  • Changed the site logo to a single transparent gif
  • Added several HTML/Text Modules to the Top Panel
  • For one module, added it on a non-home page, and chose to make it viewable from all pages, then deleted it from the home page.  Since I thought this was the error I removed it from the Modules table by deleting the record (I did this twice).  I cleared the cache and restarted the several each time with the same results.

If there is anything that you can recommend that I should be looking for I'd be greatly appreciative!

Thanks,

--Jeff

It turns out that it had nothing to do with corrupt modules afterall... I had caching set on some modules (ie, My Blog among other things) that I was updating on a regular basis.  I set the cache values to 0 and everything started working.  Here's the link to the thread that saved me :)  http://stage.dotnetnuke.us/DotNetNukeProjects/ModuleFAQ/Forums/tabid/918/forumid/20/threadid/32783/threadpage/5/scope/posts/Default.aspx

Thanks!
