Hi all,

When we try to reach a DNN portal like this: www.myserver.com/myportal, we get an error. Not the 404 error but just the "cant show page" error. The same happens if we use the IP address like this: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/myportal.

The way we solved this for now, so that we can work on our site, has been to add the address in the hosts file, which is only acceptable during development. Adding "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx dnn" to the hosts file allow us to access the site using "dnn/myportal" in the browser.

We are probably overlooking something, having gone through various ways to redirect using SiteUrls.config, changes to web.config, server settings and so on, but without finding the problem. Is it a DNN problem, an IIS problem or something completely different? We hope someone here might be able to help and point us in the right direction

Thanks in advance :)

-Dan & Helge

PS. The domain name exists and we can reach other ressources at www.myserver.com.

Yes, we were indeed overlooking something....

  • Log in as host on the DNN site
  • Select Host > Portals
  • Edit the portal
  • Create a new HTTP Alias
  • Name it www.myserver.com/myportal

Using IP address instead of domain name is exactly the same, just create an additional alias: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/myportal
