I installed DotNetNuke 4.4.1 and would like to change the name of the installed directory, it is possible to just rename the virtual directory or do I have to do a complete reinstall?  A reinstall would not be a problem as this is a brand new site.

Here is what it looks like now www.flyingdoghouse.com/flyingdoghouse  what I would like to do is rename it so it looks like www.flyingdoghouse.com/main

thank you

Hello FlyingDogHouse,

I don't see why you couldn't.  You actually just have to modify your IIS virtual directory and your portal alias.

Odupuis has it right, that is the only steps you need, but as a word of caution.  Modify the portal alias first, and I recommend that you add the new alias without removing the original, then change your Virtual directory.  Once you know that the new url has taken I would go back and remove the original alias.  I have seen several posts where users ran into trouble because they removed the old alias then had a problem setting up the new url and couldn't get back into their website.

That's a good point.

I'd also like to point out that if you do run into problems (not being able to access your website), you can always modify your portal alias without going through your website, but by easily modifying them in your database, under the PortalAlias table.
