Why can't I get phone and address to appear as a registration field to fill out for users? The DNN hardwired registration fields include "phone number" and "address" but I can't get these two to appear for new users who try to register.  I went into the module settings for the user registration module and checked the boxes to make them appear.  They then DO appear on the administration grid BUT THEY STILL DON'T appear basic users trying to register.   It is driving me NUTS!

Did you ever find an answer. I would at the very least like to have the site navigate to the update profile page after registering.

If you make a profile field required it will navigate to that screen and ask user to update its profile.

If you mark a field as required and a user logs in without the information provided they will be taken to a page to enter their information right away!

Actually, that is not completelly correct. It depends on the type of the user registration. If it is public then it logs you in right away, without ever going to that screen. Only next time when you visit it will ask you for the profile information. Now I think that this whole thing has not been thought trough very well. For example if I have Private registration, that means that I want to do some validation of user information before I grant them access to the site, yet I do not have that much to verify, just email address. I really think that registration screen should be configurable as it was before, where I can pick and choose what information I want to gather during registration. Either that or have a profile piece be  bundeled into registration process, no matter what type it is Private Public or Verified.
