We recently moved our server to a new domain that pushes security policies and were required to install McAfee VirusScan Enterprise.  The problem is that DNN Host SMTP now cannot be configured to use the hosting domain exchange server, resulting in: Could not access 'CDO.Message' object whenever Test is clicked.  This was due to the Access Protection setting in the Access Protection Properties of McAfee VirusScan: "Prevent mass mailing worms from sending mail".

Domain policy does not allow for disabliing this setting; however, it does allow for processes to be excluded. The problem is that I do not know what is the executable (DLL?) filename that DNN (3.1.1) uses for the mail function.  Does anyone out there know????

So I end up aswering my own post...

The key was to add the Windows 2003 IIS application pool worker process, W3WP.EXE, to the exclusion list.  For Windows 2000 use ASPNET_WP.EXE.
