Dear Group,

"The address is not valid"

That's the error message I get when I click on one of my Site Navigation links; and, indeed, it is not valid:  http:///HowToBeOrganized.htm doesn't cut it.

My problem is ... you already know what it is, don't you?  How the heck do I delete that link in the Pages screen?  The page can't be reached, so I can't go to it to click the Delete button...and it wasn't a DNN page anyway.  I, being a rookie, was simply trying to link to a plain old web page on my site.  Therefore the DNN toolbar wouldn't have appeared even if the address were valid.

I've got the Wrox "Professional DotNetNuke 4" book, but I can't seem to see anything relating to, say, an XML file containing the list of those Site Navigation links.  I have not tried attaching to any SQL database that may be at the back-end of my DNN site.  Is that where I should go?

My DNN site is part of my web host's DNN offerings, so I'm not the master administrator by any means.

Could you help me?

Thank you,

Steve Erbach

There is an alternative to delete pages:
  1. Go to "Admin > Pages" in your site navigation
  2. From the "Pages" list, select the page you want to delete
  3. Click on the "Edit Selected Page" icon (the pencil under "Actions")
  4. This brings you to the page settings of the selected page, where you can delete it with the "Delete" link at the bottom
Hope that helps!

xws-mika,

I was hoping it would help, too!  But I managed to rid myself of those two Site Navigation page links by examining the SQL Server tables for DNN.  I found every reference to those two pages I could and manually removed them from the appropriate tables.  That finally did the trick after I updated the Site Settings through my Admin account.

Thank you,
