Hi, I am deciding the structure of a site I am putting together and would like to know if anyone can give a pros and cons regarding performance and having either alot of pages or alot of portals.  The pages would not be listed on the menu, so I would like to know if there is a performance cost regarding either of these options.

Basically the requirements allow for either one of these options and I am leaning towards going with a few pages per registered user instead of a portal per registered user (mainly because I require single singn-on with users shared between all portals if I go this route), and unfortunately it does not appear DNN by default supports this - as well the SSO solutions I've found seem to be very clunky and have an effect on other the core and other modules.

Any advice would be great,

Thanks

the less object you have, the less resources are needed - a page only needs a single object each while a number of portals need additional objects - therefore the conclusion should be simple...

So your saying that there is no performance effect of having 1-2000 pages in a single portal as opposed to having 1-2 pages in 1000 portals?

not exactly: i don't expect a large effect of having 1000 pages in a single portal or spread over multiple portals, if they all are loaded into memory, but there is a memory usage for each single portal and it's object. This might not be an issue, if the portals are not used frequently, but if all pages are visited several times an hour, it will be preferable to keep them in a single portal to save memory and increase performance.
