Does anyone know what to do to delete a page manually. What I mean is I would like to know which tables to update to delete a page. By the same token I would like to know how to add a page manually (again using sql not the GUI).

Thanks in advance.

there are usually multiple objects affected, e.g. page and modules, therefore you should not modify the database directly, but from your modules access them using the associated DNN business layer objects.

I have written many tutorials regarding modifying DNN data directly via SQL, but I too agree that this is one area that is NOT a good idea to manually modify.  There are too many associated entries, and too much risk involved in performing this type of operation.

I had a notion that this was not going to be straightforward. My concern is that if I am going to deploy a large portal on DNN (say over a 1000 page say) then the interface does not scale. What if a page is broken in a way that it cannot be removed from the business layer anymore. What to do then?

So I thought about developing stored procedures for administrators to delete page(s) or move them around. Since the data layer is separate from the bus layer it seems feasible. I was hoping that someone would help get me jump started.

if you choose the proper hardware with enough memory, DotNetNuke shall scale up to more than 1000 pages without issues. IMO there is a greater risk, if you provide direct access to the data layer, as this is subject to be changeable in a future version and your sproc may than corrupt the logical integrity of objects in your clients database.
