Is it possible to permanently change the portal aliase of the default portal (the initial one that is created upon installation . . . Portal #0 . . . the one in . . . Portals/0 )?

Our scenario is like this:

* Our default Parent Portal 0 was created with the domain name, net.abc.com, and the virtual directory is xyz. Therefore, the URL that shows up on the browser is http://net.abc.com/xyz.

* I would like to change the virtual directory name from xyz to 123 without having the new change resolving back to net.abc.com/xyz (so far, this is what happens when I type in the URL http://net.abc.com/123 ).

Is the above doable?

Thanks in advance for your insights!

Yes, you can change it directly in the DB.

Or if you are able to access the same portal with a different alias then you could change it by logging in as host and going to Admin > Site Settings

After you change it, make sure to restart your app or it may start an endless redirect.

Thank so much for your insight, John. Restarting DotNetNuke is the key! Yesterday I did create a different alias for the portal (with IIS configurations modified already), but it was not "being taken"--it kept being resolved to the original alias.

Thanks again!

The database table that holds this info is the dbo.PortalAlias. But I did not have to do it directly in there . . . I did it in Site Settings and it is just as well.
