This morning, while I was running a local DNN site, my computer crashed, and after I rebooted, DNN 4.4.1 won't run any more.
Now whenever I try to access a site, DNN says

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error
The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

Cannot open user default database. Login failed. Login failed for user 'REX\ASPNET'.

(This is all locally, through localhost/sitename. No network-wide side effects, fortunately.)
But what can I do to solve this? I could try reinstalling DNN, but I'm afraid I'd lose all contents.

I read in another thread about restarting the IIS, but that doesn't help. Neither does switching the computer off and back on.

i would suggest removing the login from the database, and adding it back in as the user is not authenticating against your sql database.

Thanks for your reply.
I already got it running again after reassigning ASPNET access to the directory that the database is in. I had to do that before, the first time I installed DNN, but I'm not sure how it got changed now.

I agree with Cathal.  It appears to be an issue related to your user accoount in the DB.  Try removing an readding it.  Or you could also switch from using integrated security to using an actual SQL Server login as well...
