Can anyone tell me what the PersistentCookieTimeout setting in the appsettings in web.config is actually doing ?

Do we need to set that too ?

This is what I have in web.config file as far as cookies are concerned, and it's not remembering the usernames when the "Remember Login" checkbox is selected. I have DNN4.4.1 on this particular one that I need that functionality. Am I missing something?

<configuration>
  <appSettings>
    <add key="PersistentCookieTimeout" value="64800" />
  </appSettings>

  <system.web>
    <!-- Forms or Windows authentication -->
    <authentication mode="Forms">
      <forms name=".DOTNETNUKE" protection="All" timeout="64800" cookieless="UseCookies" />
    </authentication>

    <httpCookies httpOnlyCookies="true" requireSSL="false" domain="" />

    <anonymousIdentification
      enabled="true"
      cookieName=".ASPXANONYMOUS"
      cookieTimeout="100000"
      cookiePath="/"
      cookieRequireSSL="false"
      cookieSlidingExpiration="true"
      cookieProtection="None"
      domain=""
    />
  </system.web>
</configuration>

Thanks,

Waldis

Yes, I looked over the blog, but it's not helping me...

BTW, dotnetnuke.com's "Remember Login" is acting the same way, as soon as I log out it clears the cookie and leaves it with two anonymous user entries, and when I go back to the login page, it's not remembering the username at all.

Could you give me an address of a DNN protal that is DNN4.4.1 or DNN4.5 where you know it's remembering the username, that way I can try to register and see if it's remembering my username. I hope it's not all four of my computers' settings that are doing the wonders here by agreement since they are on the same LAN...

Thanks,

Waldis

Its not designed to remember your 'username' if you log out, the 'remember me' option will keep you signed in for the cookie duration as long as you dont log out.

I have just upgraded a site to 4.4.1 but ist not public at the moment, is your internet connection on a static ip? If it is I can add you to the allow list and you can test it for yourself.
