I'm using DNN v4.4.1.  I want to change the text displayed at the top of the registration screen.  I first changed the wwwroot\admin\Security\App_LocalResources\Register.ascx.resx file from the languages selection under admin.  The value changed, but the original value still displayed.

I also changed the wwwroot\admin\Security\App_LocalResources\Register.ascx.resx file directly on the disk.  Still, the original value displayed.

I am changing this section of the file:    <data name="PublicMembership.Text">

I have cleared the cache, restarted the website and even rebooted the web server.  The original DNN value still displays.  Any ideas?

The text you need to change is in the memberroles or member_something (not sure, but it's definitely starting with "member").

There are 2 language editors.

If you use the admin's laugage editor, it will change it for your portal.  If you use the host's language editor (must log in as host before you can access it), it will change it for all portals.

However, the admin overrides the host for the admin's particular portal.  Therefore, if you change  using the host language editor, it will look like you did not change anything because you did not change using the admin editor

Do you have any idea where the host vs. portal versions of the language keys are stored?  I only see one copy of the resx files.  Are there other resx files per portal or are the language keys in a SQL table?

Thanks.

Sorry, I don't know where they are located.  Hopefully someone else can tell you.

However, try what I told you- change the files using the admin's language editor (login as Admin) and you will see the changes appear.

P.S.  Just off the top of my head, why can't you just type in something unique like "I am typing this in only so I konw where this is being saved to" then download (ftp) your site to your client computer then do a window's search for the phrase "I am typing this in only so I konw where this is being saved to" and you would know where that file is!
