For large uploads you guys might look for a project called neatupload - it allows very large uploads and streams the file to disk - thus you dont get the problems with memory consumption etc.

I have used it very successfully in modules and even replaced the default upload with it in one version of dnn (3.5 i think) but it can be done and is very effective

We have developed a DNN PA module for our customers that is bases on database blob field for storing files and you can virtually upload up to 2 GB files as single file (I never tried upload bigger than 200Mb).

Hi Luca, I'm very interested in this module. Do you intend to make it available to public? I need a module that works exactly like this. I'm using Bring2Mind User Files but the module is quite simple.

@famdylan : can you tell me more about making neatupload the default upload function in DNN? Will it mess with the core code?

duchoangle,
we have no problem in making it available to public (db tables, sproc and source code) BUT:

1. it uses 3rd party component (Telerik Tree version 2007.1)
2. i'm not capable to (and I have no time to) build it as auto-installable dnn module so you have to install it manually
3. it uses db as storage for files, so you will have your db growing
4. "as is" distribution

Let me know if you are still interested

PS: You have seen only one module for individual files (by UserID) but there is also another module for sharing files within an organization (everyone logged in can see/modify/upload)

PS2: we are also developing a clickOnce app that allow you to upload/download files and folder from your pc to your InternetDisc online using WebServices.

Bye
Luca

Hi Luca, thanks for replying.

1. There's no problem with Telerik since I've already got one

2. I'll be able to install the module manually

3. DB size is not a huge problem to me

4. I accept the license

If you're willing to share, please contact me through 10Gio.Com [at] gmail [dot] com

Will the Telerik handler help with downloads as well? Large downloads are killing me (over 60mb cause a reset) and I have to find a way to allow up to 250mb downloads from DNN. Can anyone offer advice? The httpRuntime seems to have no impact on downloads (maybe I haven't found the right combination?).
