I have a couple modules where I am using Session to store data between postbacks.  However, I am running into a rather unusual problem in that my Session appears to be timing out before the configured timeout has elapsed.

<authentication mode="Forms" >
    <forms name=".DOTNETNUKE" protection="All" timeout="30" cookieless="UseCookies"/>
</authentication>

<sessionState timeout="30"></sessionState>

As you can see both the Authentication and the Session state are set to timeout after 30 minutes.  Yet when I run the website my SessionState get's cleared out after about 10 minutes.  Does anyone have any ideas why this would be happening?

Thanks

Patrick

It is possible that the application worker process is recycling itself which could cause it to loose session.  Are you on a hosted environment?

At the moment I am testing on an XP workstation running IIS 5.1.  We also have a test server running Windows server 2003 and IIS 6 that appears to have the same problem, but I haven't confirmed it 100% on that box.

Mitchel

I've checked the test server that is running IIS 6 and the app pool that our site is running under has worker processes set to recycle after 1740 minutes so I don't think that would be the problem.  I did notice that there is a setting to shutdown idle worker processes after 20 minutes.  I have increased this timeout on the IIS 6 box.  I'm still not sure about the IIS 5.1 box, though, sense I don't know how or if you can configure the worker process in IIS 5.1.

Thanks
Patrick
