Hi,

I was curious about the new goolge sitemap feature of 4.5.0/1 and had a small challenge finding anything about it.

Anyway, if you log on to your site as Host and navigate to "http://www.mysiste.com/sitemap.aspx" you might expect to see a list of all the existing pages.   Of course you do AND a list of all pages under the Admin Menu.

I think this was a small oversight. I'm sure it wasn't the intention to sitemap the admin features.

Cheers,

Colin

AFAIR the sitemap code uses the user groups and permissions to decide what pages to show, so if you're logged in as host you'll see all the pages. Naturally any search engine operates as an anonymous user so the pages don't show up to it (nor would be navigateable anyway)

I have not looked at the code specifically but I can confirm the actions that Cathal mentions.

ON my sites it does render different sets of information based ont he current users permissions.  The addition of admin menu items when logged in as host shouldn't cause you any problems as no bot will ever be authenticated as that type of user.

Hi

I have noticed that it does include hidden pages with no internal links to them though... It's not my intention to publish these although I think some people may want this behaviour.

Maybe an "include in sitemap" switch at page level would sort this?

mediademon,

Spot on...  I was thinking the exact same thing.

I wanted to create a module that would pull from the same source as the sitemap.aspx and was wondering how  I was going to deal with "unwanted" pages in my sitemap that I would still want in my menu structure.

Putting a sitemap option on the "Tab Settings" would instantly solve this scenario.
