New Community Website

Hi,

I initially installed DNN on  http://MACHINE_NAME/DEV

Later on we got a domain name on our Intranet,  WEBSITE.INTRANET.COMPAGNY.CA  that points to the IP of our webserver, this is the only website on the webserver.

I added the  WEBSITE.INTRANET.COMPAGNY.CA as a portal alias

When the people access the website thru the  WEBSITE.INTRANET.COMPAGNY.CA  url, everything works fine but the URL shows MACHINE_NAME/DEV/default.aspx  instead of  WEBSITE.INTRANET.COMPAGNY/default.aspx

I would also like to have the exact same website available from the OUR_DEPARTEMENT.INTRANET.COMPAGNY.CA url with the URL showing OUR_DEPARTEMENT.INTRANET.COMPAGNY.CA/default.aspx and not changing to WEBSITE.INTRANET.COMPAGNY.CA (once it works!)

In your portal aliases ensure that you have setup the full name, after you have added this, from the host menu select "Host" -> "Settings" -> "Restart Application"  Portal aliases are cached by DNN and typically it takes a restart for new ones to take effect. 

Once you navigate back tot he site with the specific URL it should work as expected.  You can then login under the new alias and remove the old one that pointed to you dev environment.

I double checked for the portal name alias, I have WEBSITE.INTRANET.COMPAGNY.CA and WEBSITE.INTRANET.COMPAGNY.CA/

I can't seem to delete the MACHINE_NAME/DEV portal alias since it's my main portall.  I restarted the application as specified thru the Host - Settings.

I still have the problem that when I navigate to WEBSITE.INTRANET.COMPAGNY, I can see the page and navigate thru the website, but the URL rewrites itself to MACHINE_NAME/DEV instead of keeping WEBSITE.INTRANET.COMPAGNY.CA in the URL bar.

BTW, I don't think I specified that the website isn't moving, it's using the same files with the same database, I am only trying to change the URL display.
