Hello

Yesterday I was having a problem with a missing database, see  this post:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/118/threadid/128169/scope/posts/Default.aspx

Today a similar thing happened, I was working on my site when it crashed.

I checked my database as I had a problem with it yesterday and it was "MISSING" again.

I sent a ticket to my hosting provider and was eventually informed that they had removed it because my database was abusing the server.

The reply:

The problem:
Error: 7105, Severity: 22, State: 6
Page (1:11640), slot 13 for text, ntext, or image node does not exist.

Error: 823, Severity: 24, State: 2
I/O error (bad page ID) detected during read at offset 0x00000005af2000 in file

We are getting 100 of such error on the MSSQL5 server where this database resides this caused too much hike in the CPU. We have done the dbcc operations and that errors are still occuring it may be getting bad query or had invalid data entered

So we had to detach the database after doing so the server stared responding normally.

We request you to get a proper database backup which is not having corrupted data.

What can be done?   My site is currently  DNN 4.4.1.

I need help, please.

Thanks

Lynn

Lynn,

If you have a previous backup you can use it to restore your site, if you do not have a previous backup, if you can get the detached db from your hosting provider you can look at modifying the db to clean out the "problematic" records.

Do you know what was changed/added in the time just before they took you offline?  That might help you start in the right direction.

Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.

Lynn, your site and DB are experiencing the exact same issues I had on mine.  There is a Venexus blog post that details the issue, and a solution to it here.

http://dnnblog.venexus.com/DNN+And+SQL+Server+Performance+Issue.aspx

I have no earthly clue why this problem crops up, and apparently neither does Venexus, but there is a solution.

Clay

Hi Michael

Thanks for the reply.

No I don't have a backup as my hosting provider usually backs it up daily.

Before thy took it offline I was working on the Products module from CATAlook.  Thinking about it now, one of the products refused to display in alphabetical order, so I suspect that somehow the "product" has caused a problem.  Other than that, I don't know what I should be looking for. The error code

Problem:-
Error: 7105, Severity: 22, State: 6
Page (1:11640), slot 13 for text, ntext, or image node does not exist.

.....means nothing to me.

I looked it up with Google and the suggestion was to use a hotfix in the database, which is way over my head.

Hi Clay

Thanks for the reply. Yes the problems sound familiar.  Slow site, timed out. I suspect that my log viewer is quite full, I have it set up for 30 days and have not cleared it.

However, I no longer have access to the site to delete the site log and my hosting provider have removed my database, so I don't have access to that either.

How did you get your's back?

Lynn
