Hello,

Had to move the site to a new server.  The old web.config is unrecoverable.  I've got new machine keys in the web config, and when I register a new user under these keys, I go to login, and am unable to.  I figured the password salts etc are are used against the new keys, thus new users created will function ok.

Any suggestions on how I can get a user to login; at this point I just want to get at the content in my article manager.

Thanks!

Yes.  I have had to assist with recovery of this issue before as well.  In the worst case, you can (in the DB) copy the password and password salt from a known, working user to one that is now corrupt (created under the lost keys).  We can't say that the way MS has implemented this is our preferred approach, but architecturally it is one of those things we have to deal with and help others to deal with also.

Cheers

If it's a site you've upgraded then please look in the config folder to see if theres a folder starting with "backup_". This will contain backups of the web.config file.
