Hi

I have DNN 4.04.01 and I want to create a parent portal. I have a site that has DNN on it, www.hospital-pass.com but I want another URL to be a parent portal, www.rolling-maul.com. I have looked around and struggling to find out how to set this up correctly.

Both URLs have the same name servers and are on the same website IP as its shared

Is there a document around or something that can help me out? I cant seem to find anything that can help

Many thanks

Robin

Hi Robin,

Once you have both domains pointing at the DNN website then all you need to do is login as Host and go to Portals to create a new portal.

Hi John

Thanks for the reply. When you say "have both domains pointing at the DNN website", do you mean create a Virtual Directory from the portal site, on to where the files are kept for the main DNN installation? So I have hospital-pass installed with DNN, I then need to get my ISP to set up a virtual directory setting from rolling-maul through to that?

Many thanks

Robin

Hi Robin,

No, I am speaking of your ISP setting up you main IIS website to handle both domains.  This is usually done by just assigning both domains the same IP address, but it may also require the ISP to use Host Headers in your IIS website if they are sharing your IP address with other IIS websites.  No virtual directory is needed though.
