How to upload a 'favicon' (favicon.ico)?

1. Go to 'File Manager' in 'Admin' (not 'Host'!) menu,

2. Upload your 'favicon' (default path is Portals/0, name the file as desired, i.e homepage.ico),

3. Select the page that should have the 'favicon' (i.e Home), and click 'Settings' (Page Functions), or go to 'Pages' in 'Admin' menu, select the desired page and click the pencil (Edit Selected Page),

4. Within the 'Page Management' page, open the 'Advanced Settings' and paste the following line into the 'Page Header Tags:' textbox:

<link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" href="/Portals/0/homepage.ico" />

5. Click 'Update',

6. Clear your 'Temporary Internet Files' folder and refresh your page.

That's all and you can set up a 'favicon' for every page this way, not only for the 'Home' page. By the way, this is the only solution if you have more than one portal. Otherwise, all portals would have the same 'favicon' when uploading a 'favicon.ico' file into the root folder!

Note: It's not necessary to remove the standard 'favicon.ico' from the root folder and the link statement prevents loading this 'favicon'. This should work with all browsers.

  • first go to host settings and make sure, .ico is an allowed file extension for uploads
  • second upload a file "favicon.ico into the root folder of your portal (e.g. "/portals/0")
  • without any further action, the icon is now used as favicon for all pages of your portal.
