Hi,

Is there a way for the site administrator to allow certain registered users to modify content? If so, can users be restricted to modifying content on specific pages?

Is there a module that can accomplish the above?

permissions are granted based on security roles (DNN 4.5.0 added permission per user, but there seems to be an issue with this option and I suggest to avoid using it). Define a Role "Editors", add the users you would like to grant edit permissions. On each page, they shall be able to edit, set permissions for this role accordingly:

  • grant edit permission in Page Settings, so users can add, edit move and delete modules and create subpages
  • grant edit permission in Module Settings, to allow users to edit module content.

I have noticed weird behaviour after applying user based permissions also, and have seen in Gemini where people have noticed that giving a specific user edit rights actually gave the edit ability to all user.

Is this what you are talking about?  Has it been confirmed that the User Level security can actually create a security problem?

Thank you very much Sebastian. Very easy to implement but having never had the need before . . .

John,

yes, that is what I am referring to, AFAIK this is still under investigation, I have no knowledge about this to be a security problem.
