I’m a developer that is using DNN as the CMS for a not very web savvy site owner.

So to keep it simple for them, I need to simplify the admin interface to strip out all the extraneous DNN functionality that they will not use - they just need to be able to edit text / html content, add pages and use the custom module controls that I have built.

Specifically I a new login for the site owner that will allow them access to the functionality in the DNN top bar but hide the admin menu item – any suggestions on how this can be done ?

thanks
Mark

Mark,

create a new group authors and grant edit permission for all pages.

thanks for the reply leupold.

That works great to render the 'common tasks' greyed out, perfect - thanks.

however the module list contains all the custom modules that i have written as well as all the DNn default modules.

I'd like to customise the module / content pane functions in the DNN banner to either

1/ display only the text/html module available as available to Authors

or

2/ totally disable the module / contentpane functionality to Authors.

Ultimately i want the Authors l to have full edit control for the modules that i have pre-populated, with no scope for them to add modules and thus risk cocking something up !

Hi Mark,

Dave Buckner has a great control panel replacement you can use to do exactly what you are talking about.

Pretty awesome tool to use and it will restrict "view" of the menu items in "Admin" and can also limit the view of all or any modules by any role as well.
