Hello everyone, Paul here with a few questions about DNN. I have it installed, seems like it works fine - I can get into everything I can find. I have the sample data installed, so I am looking at a clean default install (With all the links to DNN, etc).

1. How do I view my profile outside of the editor? I can look at it from "Manage Profile", but where do I view it on my site? Is there a module I am missing? So far I have my biography set to public, but I'll be darned if I can find a place, like a directory that shows all the information for the users (which is just my profile, but I stress I cannot see my profile anywhere). thanks!

2. Why does the visibility for my profile only allow a few things to be viewed by the public? Right now, I can only set First Name, Last Name, and Biography to public - I want to be able to set it to any level on any field - This has to be an admin function somewhere. Right now, when I update, almost everything stays on visibility:admin only. Doesn't that really defeat the purpose? lol...

Also, I'm noticing some problems with modules not deleting from pages, and that the theme likes to go back to the default, but that's a story for another time!

Thanks everyone - I'm new to DNN, but I am an IT admin so I pretty much have it together.

For item # 1 - As far as I know there is not a facility to make this information available.  Therefore I am not 100% sure as to the reason for the public/private selection.

For Item #2 - I am not sure about the cause of this issue.

Regarding module deletion - DO you receive an error message when you are trying to remove it?  Also, when do you notice the chaning of the theme?  Does it become a permanent change, or just temporary?

Hi Mitchel thanks for the replies!

#1 - I must admit it is very frustrating, and this is a total deal breaker in me using this product. Why have a biography if there is no place to look at it? That just doesn't make any sense to me, why would DNN include a core feature, that is useless? If this is true, not being able to view anyone's profile is a huge issue that needs to be addressed by project development.

I would submit a bug report or equivalent, but I believe still I am in error. Anyone still have help on this?

#2 - any help on this would also be greatly appreciated. Please see original post.

No error when deleting modules from pages, just either I have to delete it many times in a row, in order to get the module out. Also, the theme does eventually permanently change, however it does take some time for the change to become permanent. Same with the modules - I suspect it could be an IIS caching issue though... are there any rec commended settings that need to be set in IIS?

thanks again!

I have a installation guide that walks through all standard settings for IIS etc if you want to compare the process you followed to it that might help you.  it is available at http://www.mitchelsellers.com

FYI the contacts project is probably what you're looking for (http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Projects/ModuleContacts/tabid/832/Default.aspx). It's getting close to a release AFAIK.
