I'm new to DNN, so please forgive my green-ness.  I'm researching different platforms to help with a fairly major effort towards building a website with CMS, a community aspect, and the ability to easily plug in 3rd party software.  My site will need to be flexible enough to allow for homegrown sub-architectures, including the incorporation of different architectural layers (like a web services layer, for example).  I really want to be able incorporate traditional ASP.NET and .NET constructs with DNN.

Based on what I've read, DNN is made for this kind of stuff, but based on user experiences from those I've talked to, it stinks.  Has anyone reading this done this, and what is your experience?  I appreciate the help!

Thanks,

James

Are you a programmer or a user?  You can rewrite any of the DNN code to suit your needs, even to rewriting the core instead of just creating modules.  But if you're not a coder, you'll find it difficult to use as you request.
