Ok, a colleague of mine ran into this in 4.4.1 and now I just hit it in 4.5.1. I was adding some links to a links module on a page on one of my portals. After clicking update the edit menu for the module went away. In fact the editability of any modules in the entire portal went away. I can still see the control panel but cannot edit any modules. Of course I logged off and back on and even tried in IE instead of FireFox in case it was session or cookie related but no dice. I was logged in as host. Fortuantely it seems I can log in as host to the otehr portals and it's ok so seems specific to a portal when it happens. My colleagues solution was to delete and recreate the admin user but unfortuantely this happened to me while logged in as host. Has anyone run into this? Please tell me there's an easy fix. When it happened to my colleague I did a quick scan of the tables in SQL and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Ok, yes, it was set to View mode, but.....   I never use that feature. Somehow while editing (adding a link) it switched to view and somehow that setting got saved for the host role for the portal since even logging in with a different browser it was still set to View mode. Very strange.
