You're right.

I just did a test on a default install and on a page with no modules and not logged in they are all there.

Definitely something wrong there.  You should enter it as a bug  at http://support.dotnetnuke.com

FYI - When I'm done converting the ClientAPI over to utilize the MS AJAX Extension framework, there will be a "release" version of the dnn scripts as well.

Raghupandey:

Do you have complete control of your server and IIS settings?  If you do, you should do HTTP compression at the IIS level.  Look for papers on how to do it for all files at the Microsoft knowledgebase.  That would work nicely for even dial-up users.  Text files like CSS, JS, ASPX, ASCX, etc. compress a lot, graphics do not.

You can check potential gains with HTTP compression using the site www.port80software.com.

It is interesting to point out that the DNN site is not doing compression.

I just did a check of this for my site www.AgingSafely.com and for a simple text page with 12 KB of images I have 180 kb (310 kb uncompressed) according to FireFox's Developer toolbar.  Is there a way to disable this new 4.5.* Ajax functionality, or are we stuct with ist cost even if we aren't using it?
