Hi Jon,

Lot of people including me are eagerly waiting for your work :) All the best!

Hi Carlos,

I do have full control on my server and IIS... so i'll try your advice on using compression after a brief self-study and then share my experience with the community. The reason i think DNN site isn't using compression is to avoid that extra processing load it puts on the server. With so many hits per day, using compression may (i am not sure) bog down the DNN server. In my case i am not expecting more than 1500 hits per day so i can go for it.

Actually, its not that scientific at all *grin*.  We simply believe in eating our own dogfood around here which is why we load every RC, test every core module and endure every pain ourselves first.  Obviously, we don't catch everything... but we do work at it.  The DNN site runs pretty much without optimizations of any kind (even compression).

Hi Scott,

Thats quite encouraging to know! ... however on the 2nd point - i marked a small difference between the behavior of Dotnetnuke.com and my DNN installation for version 4.5.3 (in context of this thread). Instead of all those JS files I mentioned in the beginning, dotnetnuke.com still uses dnncore.js & spmenu.js.

So have i missed some settings, or dotnetnuke.com is running with some modfication? On the file sizes issue though, its almost the same as the new set of JS files.

Why not use ajax to load ajax?

I suggest a solutions like this:

split the whole scripts into sections. anytime you need some section check if it is loaded, else load it.

this loader can even load .js or .css, .image files just after the site has been completly loaded.
