Hi there,

I'm new to DNN and currently configuring my first portal!  I think it's great and going to be ideal for what I need.

One thing is bothering me: Under Site Settings>Advanced Settings>Other Settings, there is an option for Banner Advertising.  This was set to none.  I want to be able to display banner adverts on the site so I set it to "site".  This then produced a "Sample Banner" to the right of my logo.

How do I get rid of this "Sample Banner".  There is no associated vendor and it doesn't appear to be contained within a module.  So, how do I get rid of this.  If I change the option described above back to "none", this will remove the sample banner, this preventing me from displaying ads.  If I delete the banner.gif file, it displays the ALT text in the image placeholder.

Help please.

the banner will disappear

- after you removed the [banner] skin object from the skin of your site

- after you replaced it by adding at least one banner to the default ("") banner group.

Thanks.

Can you tell me how to do this?

  • to remove the [banner] skin object edit the skin's .html file and remove the banner tag, repackage and upload the skin or, if you edited in place, reparse the skin from host :: skins menu item. if you are using an .ascx only skin, remove the <dnn:banner ...> tag, please refer to the skinning guide for details.
  • to add banners to the default group, create a vendor record and add the banners without specifying a banner group.
