This is a strange one, just wondering if anyone has seen the like.

I have a group called content editors. This group has access to edit several modules on the site. Suddenly one member of the group of 20 users does not have the ability to edit modules. This user has the view that the group should have, i.e. some modules are viewable to that group only, but the user doesn't see any of the drop down arrows to allow him to edit. This seems very strange and I cannot figure out why it's happening. I tried removing the user from the roles and then re-adding him, but no change. I tried to visually compare his profile in the database with other content editors and can't see anything that stands out.

Please let me know if anyone has experienced this or has an idea where to look. My last choice would be to delete the user and re-add him since he has made many posts in the forum, etc.

thanks!

Please check wether that user experiences any javascript errors. For some unexplained reason i sometimes get js errors in dnn 4.4 / 4.5 that prevent the browser to build the action menus. CTRL-F5 in the browser usually solves this problem though...

I am claiming overworked on this one.

The "View" mode was selected which certainly explains why he could not see edit functions!!

What's up with this option anyway? I can sort of see it for Admins but it's just a troublemaker as far as I can see.

WOW. Maybe I should claim overworked too. It's better than admitting my ignorance . I've been trying to figure out this same problem off and on for nearly a week, and for most of the weekend. I would have never guessed that these options were related to the behavior I was seeing.

Interesting though, It seems that the Users who initially logged on before I changed to "View" mode never lost their "Edit" mode. Hence, some users could edit the module and some couldn't. I might have suspected a DNN option if ALL users lost their "Edit" mode. Could this be a DNN bug?

Thanks, penra, for posting what you found. I was pulling out what little hair I have left.

To the DNN Team. You guys rock. Thanks for all the hard work you put into this fantastic application.
