Hi,

   I am unable to send email when users REGISTER.  I have the correct SMTP setup and I can send out a TEST SMTP message but somewhere - I have the wrong domain for email for Sending other emails?

When I got under Authentication here is the error I get:

"The default authentication provider specified in web.config is not configured properly. Authentication settings are disabled."
It is view only but it has a value under

Provider:ADSIAuthenticationProvider and EMAIL DOMAIN:@yahoo.com

I researched the database to find a field that might have this @yahoo.com value but couldn't find it.

I am not sure what to change in the webconfig file.

    <authentication mode="Forms">
      <forms name=".DOTNETNUKE" protection="All" timeout="60" cookieless="UseCookies" />
    </authentication>

Then I noticed:

    <authentication defaultProvider="ADSIAuthenticationProvider">
      <providers>
        <clear />
        <add name="ADSIAuthenticationProvider" type="DotNetNuke.Security.Authentication.ADSIProvider, DotNetNuke.Authentication.ADSIProvider" providerPath="~\Providers\AuthenticationProviders\ADSIProvider\" />
      </providers>
    </authentication>
    <members defaultProvider="AspNetMembershipProvider">
      <providers>
        <clear />
        <add name="AspNetMembershipProvider" type="DotNetNuke.Security.Membership.AspNetMembershipProvider, DotNetNuke.Provider.AspNetProvider" providerPath="~\Providers\MembershipProviders\AspNetMembershipProvider\" />
      </providers>
    </members>
    <roles defaultProvider="DNNRoleProvider">
      <providers>
        <clear />
        <add name="DNNRoleProvider" type="DotNetNuke.Security.Membership.DNNRoleProvider, DotNetNuke.Provider.DNNProvider" providerPath="~\Providers\MembershipProviders\DNNMembershipProvider\" />
      </providers>
    </roles>
    <profiles defaultProvider="DNNProfileProvider">
      <providers>
        <clear />
        <add name="DNNProfileProvider" type="DotNetNuke.Security.Profile.DNNProfileProvider, DotNetNuke.Provider.DNNProvider" providerPath="~\Providers\MembershipProviders\DNNMembershipProvider\" />
      </providers>
    </profiles>

But when i look under my providers directory i ONLY have 3 subdirectories

  • LogginProviders
  • HtmlEditorProviders
  • DataProviders

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I am one version behing 4.5.3

Thanks

Ayda

Ayda,

please check SMTP settings in Host Settings menu item. you will not need an ADSI authentification provider, if you are not using ActiveDirectory synchronization. Please stay away from any changes in web.config.

Thank you Sebastian for your reply.

I can send the SMTP test email ok. The problem is, the verification email that is being sent is using a different email address and I have no idea where it is pulling this email account from. Can you tell me what database is used to pull email information from specifically FROM email address?

Thank you for your help!

Thank You Sebastian,

   I pulled my hair out not understanding where I had the configuration email set.

   For those out there who are having the same email issues, make sure your ADMIN email account matches your domain. That was my issue. I matched it and now everything is working

   THANK YOU VERY MUCH for FAST response!

Ayda
