Hi people

I have a problem with DNN settings. I was tasked to take a DNN site from production and transport it into development. So I made copies of the DNN installation files and DB, and most things seem to work just fine. However, I cannot access host or admin settings from the top menu. I also cannot access the Add module-window. All of these result in a "DotNetNuke Configuration Error Domain Name "[DOMAINNAME]" Does Not Exist In The Database" error.

I'm thinking that the problem is probably caused by the fact that someone before me had created a portal by manually copying an older portal, and creating a new one from that. Apparently this involved quite a bit of digging through the database and manually making changes. Now I'm supposed to do the exact same thing, that is, to copy an older portal and create a new one from that.

So I copied the files and made a backup of the DB (the development DB will run on the same server as the production DB, just under a different name). I also changed the portal aliases manually, so that each reference to a production address was changed to development. Basically I have managed to get the old portal running under a new alias, but when I try to add modules, I get the error message described earlier.

So what I'm asking is this: is there something that I'm missing, or is this sort of manually copying portals a lost cause to begin with?
