Hi,

I just upgraded to 4.5.3 and at first everything seemed to work smoothly. The upgrade process went without errors and it's only as I browsed to the site that I noticed the error mesage below. I noticed that my FTP transfer of the new (DNN 453) package was not complete and that many files were not actually transferred.  I have now transferred all the files over and would like to rerun the upgrade but I don't know how to.

Thanks very much in advance

Leif

If I were you, I would create an app_offline.htm page in the root, restore the database from the backup (you did remember to back up, right?) then upload your files. Make sure to backup your web.config. Re-run the upgrade.

You may be able to get away with just reuploading the package, but I couldn't say for sure.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes I've got a backup. I'm trying to work out a more or less safe way of upgrading and here I experienced a new problem not related to DNN at all which was errors in the FTP transfer so full of confidence I launched the upgrade not noticing that many files weren't transferred. It's not an enormous problem in this case but it makes me nervous about upgrading critical sites.

Thanks

Leif

I have run into this in the past with a few different FTP applications under windows. I am not going to mention names, but they are the more popular ones. I have since been using a FreeBSD & Linux boxes with gFTP without experiencing this since. I am also using lFTP to keep mirrors of my sites as I run it from a script.
