Hi,

I get the following error when I try to create a folder or upload a file in the File Manager, I also have no access to the image gallery in the Text/HTML module.; I run DNN 3.2.2 with ASP.NET 2. Everything else seem to work fine. Should I upgrade to version 4.0.2 , will that solve my problem. I'm new to DNN and I need a site deliver soon

thank you for your help

Alain

A critical error has occurred.
Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using <pages enableEventValidation="true"/> in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation.

It's not a problem with DNN and upgrading won't solve it for you.  It's likely just a permissions error on your files.  In order for DNN ( or FTB, or anything ) to be able to act on the file system, the Identity specified in the IIS Application Pool must have rights to modify files on the website ( and all files below ).

Honestly, I've not run 3.2.2 on ASP.Net 2 ( it's not necessary ), but that error sounds like it could also be a function of the aspnet_client folder?  Is yours present?

Same issue...

I verified all permissions, everything is ok, but I still get the same error!

In my case the HomeDirectory of DotNetNuke Host is :

www.mysite.net  instead of  www.mysite.net/dotnetnuke

it's why I don't have any aspnet_client folder on the site.

The aspnet_client folder is located on another website which run under TCP port 81 :

www.mysite.net:81/aspnet_client

Could be the reason? what do you think about it?

Thanks

Vincent

Under .NET2, for all DNN 3.x versions but also for DNN 4.0 (4.02 works OK) I get this "Invalid postback or callback argument" critical error on update. For 3.x this occurs with page errors.

aspnet_client is not present on the 4.0 or 4.02, but is on the 3.2.2 (both .NET 1.1 and 2.0). Yes,  I did run aspnet_regiis -c by way of  trying to get 3.2.2 running file manager properly under .NET2.

I want to run 3.2.2 under .NET2 along with 4.02 on the same IIS6.0 server with SQL 2005 using multiple codebases and IP's. I don't know if I can configure IIS to use .NET 1.1 just for the 3.2.2 sites, and .NET2 for the 4.02 site, I don't think that is practical anyhow with SQL 2005 needing .NET2.

So I am looking for a DNN solution, as I have live 3.2.2 websites that need file manager functionality, but I want to use 4.02 with some additional .NET2 development functionality using VS2005.

I hope that this information is interesting anyhow,

OK....so there was no solution in terms of the DNN3.2.2 file manager under .Net2, so I upgraded all my 3.2.2 sites to DNN4.02. by following the DNN4 install documentation by Charles Nurse.

One module on one site did not like SQL 2005 so I copied other modules/content on that page and deleted the page, then replaced it and re-inserted the content. Otherwise the issues were only around correctly installing .NET2 latest versions and SQL2005, plus modifying .dbo permissions. Not too bad.

So now everything works fine, including forums and even a non-core module (DNN download). The file manager is functional and returns no page errors.

Note that upgrade to 4.02 is possible only with version 3 install packages and not with source or private assembly builds.
