Hi,

I want to be able to step through the DotNetNuke solution.  I have the source project installed.  I am currently using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and IIS 5.  Once I open the DotNetNuke sln using VS and run the project, I get the following error;

Configuration Error

Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level.  This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.

Source Error:

Line 55:   </system.codedom>
Line 56:   <system.web>
Line 57:     <machineKey
Line 58:       validationKey="F9D1A2D3E1D3E2F7B3D9F90FF3965ABDAC304902"
Line 59:       decryptionKey="F9D1A2D3E1D3E2F7B3D9F90FF3965ABDAC304902F8D923AC

By the way, I have already created an application from IIS, so that is not the problem.

Would anyone know why I am getting this error?

Or, maybe there is a more simple way to open the project to debug it -if so, please let me know!!!

Thanks!

The virtual folder needs to be created as an application end point in IIS.

In the IIS manager, right click on the web folder, go to the Virtual Directory tab,  then click on "Create" next to the application name field.

That is the only reason I know of for the error you posted so you may want to try removing it and recreating it.
